This is part of a two week focus on BRAND NEW photographs that are being released of Cradle Mountain National Park taken during my trip in Tasmania, Australia. Also, don’t forget about the Korinek Photography Facebook Contest!

Weather in the mountains can be fickle. I know this from my experience in the Canadian Rockies.

Often you have an idea of what you want a photo to look like in your head that just can’t be realized given the weather conditions. For example, during an earlier visit, clouds obscured the peaks of Cradle Mountain when I was at this very same location (pics to come in the next fews days). Persistence will often be rewarded and I was lucky enough to come another day to find this scene before me. I was able to get this shot, and the vertical version below.

Which do you prefer?

Both are very nice, personally I prefer the horizontal one, it gives me more of the background view while still using the front rocks as a guide into the picture. And I like the little crooked shack on the side.
Sigh, Another tough decision made. :)

I agree. I do find the mountain in the vertical one to be larger and more imposing. The horizontal does show a lot more of the background and includes the boat house which I like as well. Tough decision for me too – that’s why I included both in my “photo” of the day.

  2. Amazing, spectacular photos!
